Head of FP&A Governance and Operations

The FP&A Global Process Optimization Lead plays a key role within Corporate FP&A Governance & Operations, enhancing process excellence, optimization, and governance across ABB's global FP&A organization. The role focuses on improving end-to-end planning and performance management processes while establishing robust policies, procedures, and frameworks that enhance quality, consistency, and efficiency.

Reporting to the Head of FP&A Governance & Operations, headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, this position leads the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of FP&A processes, governance mechanisms, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and the integrated FP&A calendar. It also ensures effective coordination across transformation initiatives, promoting alignment between FP&A, Corporate Controlling, Finance Process, Data & Systems (FPDS) and other Global Process teams.

As ABB's FP&A processes continue to evolve, the scope of this role may expand. We are therefore seeking a professional motivated to grow within the Global FP&A organization and contribute to its ongoing transformation.

Your responsibilities

• Operating Model Design & Execution: support the Head of Corporate FP&A Governance & Operations in designing and implementing a fit-for-purpose operating model that enables the process vision and roadmap. This model should embed the outcomes of the Finance Transformation Program into day-to-day FP&A operations and ensure long-term process sustainability.
• Project Management & Process Optimization: lead and initiate projects that deliver process optimization within the FP&A function. Ensure timely progress reporting, risk management, and actionable plans to realize agreed outcomes.
• FP&A Standards & Governance: Develop, document, and implement global FP&A functional standards across core Planning, Performance, and Management (PPM) processes to ensure consistency, efficiency, and control.
• Integrated FP&A Calendar Management: own the design, integration, and communication of the Corporate FP&A calendar across all PPM processes. Ensure alignment of key milestones, deliverables, and dependencies across global functions.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including Group and Business FP&A teams, Corporate Controlling, Finance Process, Data & Systems (FPDS) to ensure alignment and coordinated delivery of process improvement and governance initiatives.

Your background

• Bachelor's level degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration, with a minimum of ten years of experience in finance process-oriented roles, including process design; Big 4 or BPO driven transformation experience is beneficial
• Deep understanding of processes as well as functional familiarity with technology solutions related to financial planning & analysis and planning and performance management
• Strategic thinking in developing, prioritizing and implementing process improvements
• Demonstrated proficiency in managing complex projects with a focus on delivering results
• International work experience obtained in a multinational company in the industrial sector, with significant knowledge of ABB's finance landscape a significant advantage
• Fluent in English, other languages are an added advantage
• Effective communication skills including experience working across multiple levels including executive level, functions and regions; able to deliver message effectively verbally and in writing
• Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with personnel at all organizational levels and across functions as well as contributing to a team
• Cultural sensitivity, self-motivated and used to working in an environment where change is frequent and aspirations for career growth within the company
• Willingness to work virtually and collaborate with colleagues located in different geographies
