Your tasks
The PhD position is part of an engineering-oriented project that conducts research at the intersection of process mining and IoT. The project aims at developing methods and techniques for discovering process from IoT sensor data (e.g., produced by a smart factory) and for process mining in IoT settings. With this project we aim at bridging the gap between process-oriented and event-driven systems as they can often be found in an IoT context. Your tasks will include:
- Formal modelling/annotation of IoT processes
- Software-based integration of IoT devices
- Collection and analysis of data from IoT sensors
- Algorithm and software development
Your profile
- You have a master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems (or related disciplines) and a background in process mining, IoT or data analytics.
- You have good programming skills and software engineering experience.
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- You are motivated to publish results of your research at leading international venues on a regular basis.
- You are motivated to work with an international team of distinguished researchers.
- You are motivated by both personal and team accomplishments.
- You thrive with collaboration and teamwork.
Our research at the Software Systems Programming and Development Chair at the Institute of Computer Science focuses on adaptive software ranging from flexible process-oriented and event- driven systems to neuro-adaptive software systems and software development tools. We put special emphasis on topics in the fields of business process management (BPM), software and process engineering, including process modeling, automation and mining. The Internet of Things (IoT) thereby serves as one of the application domains. Moreover, we conduct research on human and cognitive aspects in software and process engineering.
