Your tasks
The research to be conducted as part of this PhD position comprises the development and evaluation of Mixed-Reality solutions with automated context and attention-awareness features. These solutions will be employed in industrial operations such as maintenance, remote assistance, workflow support, training, and digital collaboration.
We aim at advancing research in the domains of visual object classification and visual change detection, attention tracking, and personalized rendering. Within this research framework, you would be exploring the suitability of existing contextual computing approaches, designing novel tools that provide personalized assistance to the operators of industrial systems, and developing prototypes to demonstrate and evaluate your research.
Your profile
- A university-level Master's degree in Computer Science or a related subject
- Experience with research and systems in the mixed reality, human-computer interaction, and artificial intelligence domains
- Ability and motivation to investigate complex scientific questions that arise from the use of technology
- Experience with visual perception, human-factors research (e.g., conducting user studies and eye tracking experiments), computer vision, spatial computing, and robotics systems is a plus
- Confidence and independence in designing and implementing proof of concept systems
- Experience in industry-level software and system development is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- A rising track record in peer-reviewed research in the respective topic area is a plus
- An international mindset paired with a high ambition to excel in research, teaching, and academic service
As part of this engagement, you will furthermore jointly supervise students on the Master's and Bachelor's level, and participate in and support the teaching activities of the chair.
