In the context of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) project "Gauging Global Governance: The Effectiveness of Transnational Public-Private Governance Initiatives and Intergovernmental Organizations", the Department of Political Science at the University of St. Gallen invites applications for two
research assistants positions
in the research group of Professor Oliver Westerwinter. The SNSF project examines the effectiveness of transnational public-private governance initiatives and intergovernmental organizations. The project uses a multi-method research design to investigate why some transnational public-private governance initiatives (TGIs) perform well while others do poorly, and whether the pathways to good performance differ across and between TGIs and intergovernmental organizations. Responsibilities
- Assistance with the collection of quantitative and qualitative data and other research support
- Optional: Development of own project in the framework of the overall SNSF project
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in political/economic sciences, business administration, or a related discipline
- Interest in international organizations and global governance
- Interest in theory-driven empirical research
- Fluent in English
- Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods and experience with the creation of large-n datasets would be a plus
- Good working knowledge of French and/or Spanish would be a plus
The starting date for the positions is October 1, 2020 (or upon agreement). Funding is available for up to 24 months. Positions can range between twenty and thirty percent upon agreement.
The research assistants will be integrated in an international research team encompassing researchers located at the Universities of St. Gallen, Wisconsin-Madison, and Arizona State.
