The School of Medicine is an innovative and future-oriented research institute of the HSG, with chairs for Healthcare Management, Digital Health Interventions and Medical Knowledge and Decision Support. The Medical Knowledge and Decision Support Lab is led by Prof. Dr. Janna Hastings who holds a PhD in biological science and masters in computer science and in philosophy. Prof. Hastings is interested in the human dimension of computer technologies and the evolution of human-computer relationships in an increasingly digitalised world in the context of developments such as personalised and integrative medicine. Her group brings together computer scientists, informaticians and psychologists to answer questions at the interface between clinical and information systems.
The group of Medical Knowledge and Decision Support at the HSG School of Medicine is interested in the impact of increasing digitalisation – digital knowledge, decision support tools, and the growing promise of artificial intelligence – on the working lives of clinicians, their workflows, their professional identities, their relationships with each other and with their patients.
