As an R&D Engineer, you will be responsible for Research, Design and Development of Firmware for ABB Power Protection products like High Power and Modular UPS in Quartino, Switzerland. You will participate in defining and evolving best practices and guidelines for Firmware R&D functional area.

This position reports to
R&D Principal Engineer
Your responsibilities
- Understand ABB UPS product architecture and designs.
- Research, Design and Develop firmware for mid/high power and modular UPS.
- Run simulation studies, design studies, propose solutions to critical problems and optimization ideas.
- Work in Agile Teams that are spread globally.
- Handle change Requests, product localization, optimization, and life cycle management in your functional area.
- Create and manage technical documentation and reports in support of highly effective and dynamic R&D operations.
- Collaborate within the team and other functional teams to manage the deliverables and improve R&D efficiency.
Your background
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science / Electrical / Electronics Engineering
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in Firmware development for Power products
- Experience in Firmware Development for Inverters, Converters, Chargers, State Machine control and inter-module communications
- Programming experience in C, C++, and simulation tools like MATLAB
- Sound knowledge of software architecture and development life cycle
- Knowing how to convert complex power control algorithms and closed loop control systems into programmable logic.
- Experience with firmware for multi core processors, DSPs, or Microcontrollers
- Knowledge of continuous integration tools like git, Azure DevOps or equivalent
