Your responsibilities
- Lead engineer of power electronics systems and control focusing on medium-voltage converter platforms used as electrical drives and static frequency converters.
- Research, development and productization of control, modulation and estimation methods for power conversion systems, among them MP3C.
- Lead and participate in R&D projects, generate intellectual property, and support the organization with your systems and control expertise
- Collaborate with ABB's global business units, ABB's Corporate Research Centers and universities
Your background
- MSc or preferably PhD degree in power electronics with strong expertise in converter system aspects and modeling including medium-voltage multilevel converters, electrical machines, drive systems and static frequency converters
- Strong expertise in control theory and applied control methods, particularly modern control formulated in the time domain including model predictive control
- Keen interest in advanced modulation methods for three-phase systems (pulse width modulation, optimized pulse patterns) and mathematical optimization (nonlinear programming)
- Good command of English, German language skills are beneficial but not a necessity
- Strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
- Highly motivated, creative and self-organizing team player with the ability to lead projects
